Sherry Wheeler, General Counsel & Corporate Secretary

Sherry Wheeler, General Counsel, ESI International, combines a responsive, client-centric mindset with a solid understanding of in-house corporate processes, business partnerships and document requirements. Grounded through years of leadership in commercial and government law, Sherry works alongside her team to make legal discussions and agreements as effortless as possible for ESI clients.

During her tenure, she has spearheaded a major initiative to facilitate straightforward contract negotiation and simplify the client engagement and on-boarding process. Documents have been streamlined with succinct terms and conditions to be more commercially driven, as well as being simplified for readability. In addition to reduced legal paperwork, Sherry has responded to client requests for flexibility by offering time-saving ‘print-on-demand’ solutions, as well as online sharing and access to legal materials in soft copy.

As both an attorney and a business executive, Sherry leverages an extensive business background and broad knowledge of budgets, lifecycles and risk assessment to prevent contract misinterpretation and facilitate business opportunity through effective client communication. She has also presented contracting tutorials and principles for internal staff, and prior to her ESI role, has trained employees in ethics and HR legal topics. She also oversees ESI policies to ensure that the company and its clients remain compliant with current government regulations and directives.

Before joining ESI, Sherry was a corporate commercial attorney with Exxon-Mobil Corporation for several years. She has also served as Vice President of Corporate and Legal Affairs for a large Cellular One affiliate and was General Counsel for web-based healthcare solutions provider, FedMed, Inc., owned in part by Merrill Lynch. A member of the Maryland State Bar, she is also authorized to practice law by the Virginia State Bar as a Corporate Counsel Registrant.

Sherry received her Bachelor of Science in Political Science with a minor in American History from Willamette University, OR and earned her Juris Doctorate from Syracuse University College of Law, NY.
