Preparation for PMP® Certification
When you earn a Master's Certificate in Project Management you are well on your way toward certification as a project management professional (PMP®) by the Project Management Institute (PMI®). Learn more about PMP® certification.
Continuing Education Units (CEUs)
Whether or not you choose to pursue an integrated course of study leading to a master's certificate, you receive credit in the form of CEUs for all the ESI classroom, e-Training and virtual classroom courses you take. CEUs are used nationwide to maintain records of completion of organized post-secondary education. For those of management or other professional career paths, CEUs are widely recognized as evidence of educational attainment.
One CEU is granted for every 10 hours of classroom participation. Course descriptions on this Web site include CEU information for your convenience. (Note that 1 CEU = 10 PDUs) To earn CEUs and receive a certificate of completion, you must attend the entire class and pass the exam, where applicable.

Professional Development Units (PDUs)

The Project Management Institute requires that a PMP® earn 60 professional development units (PDUs) every three years in order to maintain certification. ESI has been recognized by PMI® as a Charter Global Registered Education Provider (provider #1038). Attendance at all ESI courses-including our e-training and virtual classroom courses and Courses for Experienced Project Managers-is an excellent means of earning PDUs. Each hour of scheduled classroom participation qualifies for one PDU. (Note that 1 CEU = 10 PDUs). |
Reporting PDUs
To report your PDUs, you will need to report them online on the PMI® website or submit a PMP® Professional Development Activities Reporting form directly to PMI®. This form can be found at PMI®'s web site.
For online reporting, use the Quick Link "Claim/View PDUs" provided on the PMI® Certification web page. Once logged in, proceed by selecting "Category 3: Registered Education Provider program" from the drop-down menu. Click "Continue" to complete online reporting of PDUs for ESI programs.
Beside the "Find Program" button, enter 1038 in the first box for ESI's provider ID, and the program ID for the course attended in the second box. For a public course program ID, use the six-letter course code as found in ESI's catalogs, web sites or courses confirmation letters. Be sure to omit the hyphen (i.e. PMCBVZ). For an onsite course program ID (courses delivered specifically to our client companies), use the last three letters of the ESI onsite course code (i.e. CPM). Do not be concerned if the resulting course title displayed does not exactly match that of the course you attended. Complete the PDU reporting by providing the requested information on the online form.
For PDUs earned in public courses, a list of courses and program IDs are available for selection. To access this list, enter "ESI" beside the "Find Provider" button on the R. E. P. search page. Select "ESI International 1038". Select the appropriate course title and program (the six-letter ESI course code) from the program list displayed, and provide the additional information requested on the online form.

ACE College Credit Recommendations
ESI International's core Project Management, core Information Technology Project Management, core Procurement, core e-Training, and other select courses have been evaluated and recommended for college-level credit hours by The American Council on Education (ACE) College Credit Recommendation Service (CCRS). If you are currently enrolled or are considering enrolling in an undergraduate degree program, you have the opportunity to apply your ESI education towards an academic degree. ACE offers all those who are eligible an official transcript of their ESI courses. The ACE transcript is the official document colleges and universities would use to facilitate the transfer of the credit hours. The ACE transcript also assists those who already posses a college education. By obtaining an ACE transcript, you will be documenting successful completion of curriculum that may be central to your employment or professional certification. Acceptance of ACE Credit at Your Institution
The ACE/CREDIT's recommended credit hours for ESI's courses are shown on the course description pages within the Web site and in ESI's course catalogs. Your college and/or university representative can tell you whether these recommended credits can be applied toward your undergraduate degree. Please note that the acceptance of ACE/CREDIT recommendations is at the discretion of each academic institution. If your school is unfamiliar with ACE/CREDIT, have them contact ACE's College Credit and Transcripts Department at +1 (202) 939-9434.
To Join the ACE Student Registry
ACE now offers online registration. To receive an ACE transcript for the ESI courses you have attended, you must first register at ACE's registration site at https://www.acenet.edu/transcripts/register/. Throughout the registration process, you can log in to the ACE Registration site to view the status of your request, access your complete file, and then order your ACE Transcript. You may obtain the ACE Information Sheet here for complete details on the registration process and a list of the ESI courses that have been approved for ACE college-level credit recommendations, along with the corresponding credit recommendation for each course.
About ACE/CREDIT
ACE/CREDIT has evaluated and made credit recommendations for thousands of college-level courses offered by hundreds of organizations, including corporations, federal agencies, labor unions, and voluntary/professional associations. A team of faculty members and administrators from accredited colleges and universities follow stringent guidelines (established by the ACE Commission on Adult Learning and Educational Credentials) to assess the various forms of education and training that these organizations conduct. The work of the team often culminates in college credit recommendations.
GWU Master's Degree Program
The University will award advanced standing toward its Master of Science in Project Management to those students who earn an ESI/GW Master's certificate within five years of starting the master's program. All master's certificate holders (project management, information technology project management or advanced) may receive credit for up to three "non-core" courses, for a total of up to nine credit hours (which represents 25 percent of the credit required for the GW degree). Advanced academic standing is awarded at the academic advisor's discretion. Once students accept admission to the program, they initiate the process by submitting the appropriate forms and supporting documents.
